Diet for gastritis: menus, recipes and principles of nutrition at home

Nutritional treatment for gastritis reduces stomach upset and pain caused by inflammation.

Properly chosen menu helps to increase the effectiveness of therapeutic measures and normalize digestion. The diet for gastritis includes treatment tables 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. The choice of a special menu depends on the level of acidity, the stage of the disease. Tables 1, 4, 5 have several options. It is determined by the number of basic diets and is used according to the severity of symptoms, the period of the disease (acute, pale, chronic form).

How much should you diet with gastritis? Strict monitoring is required during and after the first months of exacerbation. Ideally, however, a patient diagnosed with gastritis should follow the recommended table during remission. However, menu extensions and holiday exceptions are possible. Only within reasonable limits and not to mention coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and fatty foods.

Diet for gastritis: basic rules

In connection with the organization of the diet for gastritis at home, the gastroenterologist advises patients to follow five basic rules.

Dietary rules for gastritis
  1. Food processing. Foods for gastritis should be processed thermally. Raw vegetables and fruits are such an exception. Meat and fish are not consumed in pieces. These products are separated from the bones, skin, tendons and are made in the form of meatballs, cutlets, cabbage rolls.
  2. Fractional menu. Meals should be frequent for gastritis. But you need to eat regularly in small portions. Ideally, the patient eats four to five meals a day every three hours. The last meal is not later than 19: 00. Patients diagnosed with gastritis should chew all foods thoroughly.
  3. Drink plenty of fluids. You should drink a lot with gastritis. Especially still alkaline drinks. The following waters are suitable for patients with gastritis: "Essentuki", "Borzhomi", "Mirgorodskaya". To remove carbon dioxide, the bottle is left unopened and placed in a pot of hot water for about 20 minutes. This drink is useful before meals. In addition to medicinal water, patients for gastritis are prescribed compotes from dried fruits and fresh berries.
  4. First courses. Soups are a must in the diet of a patient with gastritis. However, vegetarian recipes or non-rich second or third meat broths are preferred.
  5. Cook. Patients with gastritis are forbidden to eat too hot or too cold. Food can be steamed, boiled or cooked without crust. With the diagnosis of gastritis, nothing fried, salted, canned, fermented is possible. The porridge is boiled in water or half milk without fat. In addition, in the acute phase of gastritis and in the presence of severe clinical symptoms, it is better to follow the recommendations for cooking prescribed by the therapeutic diet No. 1. Developed by Manuel Pevzner. It is especially preferable to eat foods in pure form. The products are brought to the state of a palette with a souffle or a sieve, and at the same time a mixer. Table 1 is generally prescribed for exacerbations of peptic ulcer disease.

The diet for gastritis is in many ways reminiscent of the menu recommended for children in the first years of life. There is no place for greasy, fried and sweet things. Dishes are prepared without spices and with a minimum amount of fragrant spices. And the food is chopped as much as possible to facilitate the digestive process.

Basics of Low Acid Diet

The main task of nutrition in this type of gastritis is to stimulate the production of enzymes and acids in the stomach, to accelerate the passage of food into the intestine.

Puree and liquid foods should be preferred, but unlike other forms of gastritis, acidic foods such as kefir, fresh cottage cheese, and citrus fruits are acceptable. Outside the aggravation period, you can even eat fried food, but without eating bread and limiting the amount of fat. The temperature of food should not be higher than 60 degrees and not lower than 15. The caloric content of the daily diet is up to 2500-3000 kcal.

Principles of diet for high acidity gastritis

Regardless of the cause of inflammation of the gastric mucosa, it is important to follow a diet when treating gastritis with high acidity.

Similar to the treatment of the acute phase: fried, salty, smoked, spicy food, a lot of liquid and pureed food, no small portions. The products should not cause the secretion of gastric juice, should not remain in the stomach for a long time and should additionally irritate the mucous membranes. The principles of nutrition are almost the same as the diet for acute gastritis, although cutlets, meatballs are included in the diet, the daily salt intake is slightly increased (8 grams) and baked goods are allowed. The food is best steamed, boiled, boiled or steamed, eaten hot, chewed well.

Normal caloric intake for high acid gastritis is 2200–2500 kcal. Often the patient is prescribed additional vitamin complexes to compensate for vitamin deficiency.

Basics of Diet in Acute Diseases

If the disease worsens, it would be advisable to completely exclude the patient from the diet during this period and give rest to the digestive system. If the acute form of the disease is caused by poisoning or taking certain medications, you should first force the gastrointestinal tract to wash and vomit.

Drinking hot liquids and tea is indicated on the first day. The next day, if the patient's condition improves, he may gradually begin the process of feeding with liquid foods. First of all, it is recommended to use liquid soup from milk and cereals, meat and fish puree. Allowed:

  • weak tea,
  • solutions,
  • jelly,
  • bal.

Exclude from the diet when aggravating:

  • fresh vegetables and fruits,
  • meat broths,
  • fermented dairy products,
  • carbonated drinks,
  • coffee,
  • sweets,
  • any bakery products,
  • cheese.

All food should be steamed and warmed. The caloric content of the diet should not exceed 2000 kcal.

What to eat during gastritis: list of foods

Nutrition for gastritis and a medical menu for each day should be planned, paying attention to the rules of the fifth table. The attending physician will suggest a list of foods that are beneficial and should be in the diet. It will also determine the list of flavors you need to forget about gastritis.
